20 Games Challenge: Breakout
This is my take on Breakout, created for the 20 Games Challenge — a project focused on rapid, small-scope game development.
Goals:
- Build a classic brick-breaker using Godot 4
- Practice physics, score tracking, and game state management
- Improve feedback and flow with bounce logic and sound cues
This isn’t a full remake — it’s a hands-on exercise to explore ball control, collisions, and incremental progression.
Controls:
- Left / Right Arrows (or A / D): Move Paddle
- Enter / Space: Launch Ball
Features:
- Paddle bounce with directional control
- Ball reset and increasing speed
- Brick destruction with scoring and sound
- Life system with game reset
- High score saving between sessions
About the Challenge:
The 20 Games Challenge is all about shipping 20 simple games, fast — no polish, no perfectionism. Just building momentum through small, complete projects.
